Midair Studio features the fine art and illustration of artist Peter Rashford. You are purchasing directly from the artist's studio located in New York State's Adirondack Park. Peter works mainly in pen & ink, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, mixed media, charcoal, graphite, and digital media. View the artist bio information. This method eliminates the costs associated with shows and exhibitions. Your art may be customized to suit your needs. Commissions may be handled as a collaboration between you and I or as a request to create a work of fine art, mural, or illustration. I will create a unique image or you may supply a visual concept, idea, or images for reference. Prices for commissions are based on the size, style (realism, impressionism, or other), artistic innovation, and scene complexity. More objects, more detail, and more realism require additional labor. Prices usually fall within the $2 - 7 per square inch range. Midair Studio's digital fine art gallery features fine art prints and original drawings and paintings.

Contact Peter to place a commission order. A contract will be generated and proposed. 50% due with order, 50% due on delivery. Inquire about matting and framing options.

Please allow at least 1-3 weeks for your order. You will be emailed a watermarked image for approval when your order is ready. Upon approval you will be sent an invoice for the remaining balance. Your commission will be shipped or picked up after payment is received.

Images and order forms may be:

  • or dropped off/picked up at Anthony's TV and Repair Service, 606 Mohawk St., Utica.

Shipping is extra and will be applied to your commission order. Orders without frames are usually shipped through the United States Post Office (USPS).

Watercolor Landscapes using One Color
Watercolor landscapes are hand painted on 19" x 24" watercolor paper using one color of paint. Choose between black or sepia. I will create a scene or you may supply an image for reference.

Watercolor Painted Scene
Watercolor paintings are hand painted on illustration board, watercolor paper, or another substrate is optional. Paint is applied with a brush, airbrush, or other material such as a sponge. Many effects are possible. From very controlled use of the paint to very loose and sketchy. Watercolor is more light sensitive than most media and requires special care. All subject matter may be created using watercolor.

Pen & Ink Drawing
Pen & ink drawings are hand drawn on illustration board. Various papers or bristol board are optional. Pen & ink is unique in texture and a difficult media to master. This media presents challenges for some subject matter. It is extremely arduous to create subtle tones. Pen & ink drawings are usually under 16" x 20." Drawings may be made using black ink or colored ink and applied with a pen or brush.

Pastel Painting and Colored Pencil Drawing
Pastel and colored pencil drawings are hand drawn on various papers or illustration board. Pastels are a soft media that usually yields little fine details. They are great for large objects and areas of color. Colored pencils may be sharpened to produce lots of fine details. It is more difficult to create large colored areas in an even tone. These are good mediums for a wide variety of projects.

Charcoal and Graphite Drawing
Charcoal & graphite (pencil) drawings are hand drawn on various papers or illustration board.Charcoal is darker compared to pencil. Charcoal is shades of black and pencil is shades of gray. All subjects matter can be created with these media. Drawings may be highly detailed or sketchy.

Digital and Mixed Media
Digital drawing and painting offers an endless variety of techniques. They may be drawn by hand using a digitizing tablet or a mouse. Lavished with all sorts of filters and brush styles. Digital originals are printed on paper or canvas. Mixed media combines different mediums to create a hand made original.

Murals and Special Projects
Murals are are special category that presents many options. They may be directly applied to a wall, ceiling, or floor. They may be painted on canvas, board, or whatever then installed onsite. They may be fairly simple graphics or very complex scenes. Special projects are designed, built,and painted. Such as signage, movie props, stage set design, and anything else you dream up!

Custom Art Commission Terms
How it Works & Frequently Asked Questions

1. Painting, Drawings, Murals, and Special Pojects
These types of commissions may be based on my idea or your idea/image. If you would like the art to be created from your image please supply that image(s) for reference.

2. How do I send my reference images and in what form?
Either email or deliver a photograph. Email your image using the email button after you place an online order. It will be emailed directly to sales@midairstudio.com. Optionally, mail or deliver a photograph with your order form. Art is best created from images that are in JPEG or TIFF format. Files larger that 6MB should be transferred using a service such as www.transferbigfiles.com. You may send me as many photos as you have of the subject you would like made into art. I am happy to review them and pick the ones which will give the optimum results.

3. Help my image has unwanted items in it or looks crooked!
Don't worry!! Here at Midair Studio minor touch up is included in the price. I want you to be proud of the art you are commissioning. If there is enough detail included this is not a problem. If there is an object obstructing a detail of the main subject, it would be helpful if you included a image that showed any detail of the subject that is obstructed. Major changes may incur additional fees. You will be notified and have the option to proceed or cancel.

4. Payment Terms
Orders payable in U.S. dollars. Payments may be made through PayPal, Chase QuickPay (free enrollment), by check, or money order. Most commission orders require a 50% down payment with 50% due on delivery. Payment terms are available, please contact us sales@midairstudio.com. Charge for returned checks is $35.

5. How long will it take to get my order?
After placing an order for your commission it will normally take 1-3 weeks for your art to be completed. Photo restoration and digital painting commissions normally take 3-7 days. Orders are usually shipped through the United States Post Office (USPS). Shipping normally takes 3-5 days. Please contact me if you need the commission sooner. Please contact me if you need faster shipping.

6. Not happy with your art?
Midair Studio stands behind the quality of it's work. I offer a 30 day money back guarantee. If you are not satisfied for any reason with your art, just return it to me in the condition you received it. I will rework the image until you are satisfied or your order may be cancelled. Artist retains a 30% cancellation fee.

7. Where are you located? Are you a foreign company?
I have been asked this question many times, due to the fact that past clients have had problems working with overseas companies. I am located in Cold Brook, NY, USA and will be the only one creating the art. Proud to display Made in the USA.

8. All orders placed through this website agree to the following terms:
Design Agreement: The client agrees to commission the execution of the ordered design work. Reasonable sketches or drafts may be provided and approval given or design changes made. If client decides not to proceed, all designs shall be returned to Midair Studio, Midair Studio shall retain 30% design fee and this agreement terminated. Midair Studio warrants and represents that, to the best of its knowledge, the work assigned hereunder is original and has not been previously published, or that consent for use has been obtained on an unlimited basis; that all work or portions thereof obtained through the client from third parties is original or, if previously copyrighted or published, that consent to use has been obtained on an unlimited basis; that Midair Studio has full authority to make this agreement; and that the work prepared by Midair Studio does not contain any scandalous, libelous, or unlawful matter. Client agrees to hold Midair Studio harmless for all liability caused by client’s use of Midair Studio products.
Copyright: It is agreed that all designs are instruments of service. All preliminay work shall remain in the possession of and property of the artist and thereby artist retains exclusive rights to use and create work according to the designs. Client agrees to make no further commercial use of the designs or any copy or facsimile thereof without the artists consent. If consent for commercial use is granted the artist shall be entitled to a minimum of 15% of any and all consideration paid or exchanged for such use. Midair Studio retains the right to use designs for publicity purposes.
